Obituary For John Michael Hall

Born March 12, 1960 in Cleveland, OH to James C. Hall, Jr. and Dora Aileen Parsley Hall. He is preceeded in death by both his Mother and Father. He was survived by his older brother, James "Jimmie" Hall, III, older sister, Connie Hall McCahan, his younger brother, Edward "Eddie" Hall, his two children, daughter, Autumn M. Hall Johnson, son John M. Hall, Jr. and one grandaughter, Weatherly R. Johnson. He passed peacefully surrounded by family on February 4, 2024 in Virginia Beach, VA.

John was to be called Johnny but his sister pronounced it as Noggie and it stuck. He introduced himself as Noggie and carried the name proudly through his entire life. The Halls moved to Virginia Beach and lived in the Sandbridge area where Noggie and his brothers and sister all served on the Junior Fire Department. He loved the water and enjoyed surfing and being on the beach. He was very close with his mother until her untimely passing and he remained a life long resident of Virginia Beach although some of his family moved to different areas.

He married Denise L. McKinney on May 5th, 1984. There first child was born in November 1984 and their second in December 1985. Although they divorced shortly after the birth of their second child they remained in contact and actually became quite close in recent years. Although he had a few relationships he never remarried.

He loved his children very much and did the best he could by them both. They both share fond memories with him driving on the beach and camping out with his friends, trips to WRV for new school clothes, movies, hayrides, monster truck rallies, various local festivals and celebrations and of course Sunday morning breakfast. He cared deeply about his children and tried to pass on as much knowledge as he could teaching both his children various skills they would carry into adulthood.

He was a jack of many trades and one of the hardest working men you'll ever meet. He was in construction and built or worked on a lot of Virginia Beach and the surrounding areas. He was also a pretty accomplished mechanic and knew his way around any type of truck or heavy machinery. He drove a tow truck for a number of years then drove a mack truck hauling things both locally and nationally for several years as well. In the later years of his life he returned to construction and did work all over the Hampton Roads area.

Noggie never met a stranger and oftentimes made lifelong friendships. He would help anyone he thought was in need and was the type of guy that would pull over for hitch hikers or stop and help with car trouble. He wasnt afraid of anything and lived his life to the fullest on his own terms. He had quite a wild streak and his friends and family have some pretty crazy stories about him. If you had the pleasure of meeting him you definitely never forgot him. He was a force of nature and lived more than 100 years in his 63 years of life. He was loved and will be missed immeasurably but will never be forgotten.

Please join his family for a celebration of his life on May 5th, 2024 to be held in Sandbridge to share some of the wild stories at the Baja, have an ash scattering ceremony and cast flowers into the ocean in remembrance on Little Island at sunset. Please RSVP to Autumn Johnson for more details and with any questions. Autumn.m.johnson09@gmail.com
