On August 21, 1964, a tiny blonde, blue eyed little boy was born and this same blonde, blue eyed “boy” went home with his Lord on July 9, 2025. Alan William Daugherty was the second child of Nancy (Poarch) and Russell Daugherty who greeted him along with grandparents Ruth and Roy Poarch and Lillian and John Daugherty. He was educated at Hampton City Schools and attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale studying Fashion Merchandizing. Always a fashion forward individual, Alan’s decades long career in retail helped so many look and feel their best.

Alan leaves in love his brother Jack (Terri), his sister Elizabeth (Jody), nieces Sarah and Lily (his “princess”) as well as many cousins, lifelong friends and fur babies Colby, Ziggy and Genie. The family would like to thank Dr. Kok and the team at Virginia Oncology Associates and Wings Over Virginia Hospice for their care.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 8 at 11 AM at Bethany Methodist Church, 1507 Todd’s Lane, Hampton, where Alan was a lifelong member. This will truly be a celebration of Alan’s life! The family asks instead of flowers, a donation to CHKD or your local SPCA is preferred.
