Condolences

I just learned of Andrew's passing and am so sorry. My deepest condolences to his parents, extended family and friends. I see the picture of him as a grown man, but remember him as a young one, when he and his parents were my neighbors in San Diego. Soft spoken with a gentle nature, he and I shared a love of gardening. Before moving from San Diego, he gifted me a potted orange tree, some have told me it's a Satsuma. That tree has grown into a beautiful and very productive tree. It has the sweetest oranges I have ever tasted, and I grew up in The San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles where every home around, including ours, had a delicious Valencia orange tree. Friends agree and have germinated seeds from Andrew's tree, to grow their own trees in turn. And this is the gift of a gardener. I have thought of Andrew, Kim and Mitch often, when I walk with my Aussie by their old house (he would not approve of the plastic lawn the current owners have installed), and when I enjoy and share with neighbors the bountiful harvest of his tree. I am grateful for his gift. I'm grateful for the gift of having known him.
