To Juane, Jennifer, Jay, Tammy and Jason,
Even though Marlene and Shorty moved away from Burlington, NC a LONG time ago, they were greatly missed by my parents, Don and Peggy McCorkle. My mother and Marlene had many adventures together, including Mom coloring her hair, and running over to Marlene's house for help when it turned pink.... Marlene was the only adult I was allowed to call by her first name. She just was that kind of person. Beautiful, FUNNY, loving, and interesting. Life was just more fun with Marlene! She made the world around her a brighter place. She will be missed, and those of us lucky enough to have known and loved her will never forget her. Hugs to you all.

When I was very young, our family made many visits to our old neighbors in VA. I remember our visits to the Jordan's with great fondness. I loved being in the Jordan home. Uncle Shorty was always sweet and made me laugh. The house was always busy and full of love and laughter. The kids came and went and I always thought they were so cool. I loved the player piano! And most of all, I loved Aunt Marlene! Aunt Marlene was always so warm and welcoming. She greeted us with big hugs and her wonderful southern drawl. I never knew anyone who said "Honey" so often! I can't remember the last time I saw Aunt Marlene. I moved to CA in 1976 and may not have seen her since then. However, Aunt Marlene and I stayed in touch on and off and reconnected over 15 years ago. We stayed close, keeping in touch through letters and emails. I treasured our conversations. We shared memories about my mom, talked about our love of family and friends and shared recipes. More recently, we enjoyed talking politics and sharing opinions about current events. She was feisty and passionate and I always loved her color commentary about what was going on. I feel truly blessed to have had Aunt Marlene in my life. I will miss our conversations. I'm sure her kids know this, but she sure was proud of all of them. I am grateful to Jennifer, Juane, Jay, Tammy and Jason for sharing their mom with me. I am a better person having known her.

What do John and I remember about the most about Marlene Jordan? Why is the world is a little sadder without her?. First her spirit of life was one that brought joy to everyone, with her acts of kindness and care. Second, she was absolutely a hoot with her jokes, stories (especially about Shorter), and sending the most absurd birthday cards. I just ran into 2 of them this week and I just had to laugh. Third, Marlene was very serious about life - her beliefs, her causes, and her family. The "old Third Church" gang will miss her. Jordan family - you all are the Mosher's hearts and prayers. We send our love.

I can hardly put into words of how I will miss that girl. We had lots of fun times together and regardless of the situation she had a smile on her face and was happy. She found the good in everything and everyone she met. She will leave a big hole in my heart but I know she is at peace now and I thank God for that. Praying for the whole family Children and grandchildren All of you for peace and comfort. Marlene will be remembered and loved for all time because she had so many friends. Glad I was one of them. Such a legacy! Bless you all.
