Obituary For Austin Wilson
Austin Tanner Wilson, 23, treasured son, dad, brother and grandson, passed away unexpectedly on January 2, 2022. Austin was born in Virginia Beach, graduated from First Colonial High School and attended TCC. He was a wonderful, strong and kind-hearted young man with a gentle soul, sparkling blue eyes and a sweet, tender smile. Austin never met a stranger, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was previously active for many years in Dai Nippon Butoku Kai Japanese martial arts and Boy Scouts of America, earning the rank of Star. At a young age, Austin found his true passion in the sport of wrestling. He was a talented and fierce competitor, consistently displaying great sportsmanship on and off the mat. Wrestling afforded him the opportunity to learn many life skills, forge countless friendships and travel to several states to compete in tournaments and attend camps. Austin was fortunate to have the guidance of special coaches over the years including, Cliff Brown, Jamie Arnett, Bill Turner, Will Stravino and Rodney Johnson. Just as he loved his family, Austin also had a love of animals, which prompted him to volunteer at the VBSPCA for several years. He, too, enjoyed welding, mechanics, building and fixing things just like his beloved dad, Jack Wilson, who recently predeceased him. Austin is survived by his mother, Holly Wilson, his only son Carter, older brother Travis Wilson (Tracy), his beloved Nana Mary Brown, uncle Dale "Chip" Brown (Patricia Smith), and paternal grandparents Terry and Oma Maxwell. He also leaves behind a host of extended family members and numerous friends who will love and miss him forever. There will be no service, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
