Obituary For Barbara Jean (Lee) Robinson-Bragg

Virginia Beach - Barbara Jean Lee Robinson Bragg, 80, a native New Yorker, most recently of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from complications of an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin, Barbara beat the odds for many years. She became known in UNC Hospital in NC as a walking miracle for surviving and thriving after many serious ailments.

Barbara met the love of her life, William O. Bragg Jr. in 1972, and they were married on February 14, 1973.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Jettie Pearl Robinson, her birth father, Reginald Leopold Lee, her daughter, Denise Robinson, her sister Lorraine Robinson, brother-in-law Ulysses Bragg, her sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Fulton McLaurin, her husband, William O. Bragg, Jr., brother-in-law, Bishop Hazell L. Moses and a host of nieces and nephews.

Barbara truly loved her family. She is survived by her sisters Wilma Moses, Jeanette Robinson, and Tisa Robinson; sister-in-laws Cynthia Bragg-Moore (John Melvin), and Phyllis Bragg, brothers Anthony Robinson, Sr., and Brian Robinson; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins descending from the Johnson, Robinson, Lee, Bragg, McLaurin, and Hawkins, family lines.

Her daughters are the late Denise Robinson, Nzingha Eldress aka Yolanda Robinson-Knox (Allen), Cassandra Bragg, and Adrienne Snowden (“My son” Karenga).

Her grandchildren are Justice Robinson, Jhanèe Bragg, Shane Knox, Andre Snowden, Anthony Hackett, Jr. aka “AJ”, Alexis Snowden, and Jurni Snowden.

Barbara’s great-grandchildren are King Jelijah Curll Robinson Banks aka “KJ” (7) and Melodii Skye Hawkins-Cowans aka “Skye” (1).

The closest people to Barbara besides her children were her late sister Ruth McLaurin, her sister (first cousin) Patsy Johnson, and her niece Linda Burroughs.

The Memorial Service for Barbara will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in Rockville Centre, NY—location details to be announced.
