Obituary For Benjamin John Salpietra Jr.
BIAGIO (BENJAMIN) JOHN SALPIETRA JR.
Hampton, VA - It is with somber yet joyous tears of love that we announce the passing of our unforgettable father, that was referred to as BJ by all, who left us on Saturday November 16, 2024 at the age of 72. An Italian raised in the heart of Louisiana, he was a charismatic force of nature, a big kid at heart, and a stubborn soul who could outlast a poker game and a football season without breaking a sweat.
As a diehard fan of LSU and the Saints, he taught us that loyalty is key—whether it’s to your team or to the endless buffet at your favorite restaurant. His love for food was only rivaled by his passion for horse racing, where he often placed bets with the same fervor he showed when cheering for a touchdown. Let’s just say he could turn a family dinner into a championship game with his animated commentary.
As a single father to two daughters, he juggled the roles of chef, coach, and occasional referee with a mix of humor and stubborn determination. While our family may not have always been the closest, he cared deeply in his own unique way, often expressing his love through food, laughter, and just the right amount of sarcasm.
As we say goodbye to Biagio (Benjamin) John Salpietra Jr let us reflect on the joy he brought into our lives. He taught us that life is too short to take too seriously and that laughter should be the main ingredient in every gathering. Let’s honor him by raising a glass, sharing a meal, and maybe even placing a friendly wager—because if there’s one thing he’d want, it’s for us to keep the spirit of fun alive.
Benjamin was survived by his daughters: Heather Salpietra Swift (husband) Anthony Swift and Brandy Salpietra Richards. Grandchildren: Breahna Miller, Arianna Swift, Alexa Salpietra Richards and Averi Salpietra Richards. Siblings: Pasquale Charles Salpietra, Francis Rick Salpietra, James Jimmy Salpietra, Angelina Phyllis Melton, Sebastiana Maria Salpietra.
Rest in peace, Daddy. You may have left the table, but your spirit will always be our winning hand. We love you more and miss you dearly!
