Obituary For Bertha Brooks

In Loving memory of Bertha Tyson Brooks who passed away November 10th 2020 at the age of 93 in Virginia Beach, Virginia Bertha worked for the phone company in Arkansas as a young woman, then moved to Richmond where she worked for Esso Standard Oil. In later years, she went back to work for C&P Telephone (Bell Atlantic) moved to Virginia Beach and retired in the early 1990’s. Bertha was always active taking a day trip, visiting her sister in Blackstone or volunteering at Church of The Holy Family where she was a long time member. She loved her family; caring for her grandsons and spending time with her daughter and son in law. She loved her finches and her grand dogs, and there were many loving memories over the years! She loved celebrating the holidays! Her nicknames she was best known by over the years were: “Brookie” to some “BB” to others and Mom and Nana. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother and a strong, independent wonderful person loved by many over the years! Everyone that knew her enjoyed being around her and always had great memories. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, her two grandsons and four nieces. Bertha wished to be cremated and her ashes will be placed with her mother and sister in Blackstone, Virginia to end the year 2020!
