Betsy was a "gem" and I met her years ago through GFWC. Always had a smile, hug and a kiss to welcome me to a convention or to "Christmas in the Country". Whether she was selling baked goods, raffle tickets or Jennie June Jewelry, she had a way of greeting people that was genuine. She will me missed but I will always retain my fond memories of Betsy!

Betsy was a wonderful member of GFWC Cape Henry Woman's Club. She always had a whimsical way of presenting projects for the club. Every year she chaired the Christmas in the Country Bake Shop and made dozens or baked lambs to tie on packages of bakery sold. Her Jenny June jewelry sale at District meetings raised many dollars for GFWC. She will be sorely missed

I am so proud to call Betsy a friend. We volunteered together at both GFWC Virginia and Operation Smile creating indelible memories of our times together. My life, and the lives of so many others, have been made richer and better because she passed our way. May the good memories sustain us.

Betsy brought much fun and happy smiles to many GFWC friends. She will long be remembered through her Jennie June sales at District meetings and as the Dogwood Lady. Her presentations at conventions were always a highlight of the meeting. I enjoyed knowing Betsy and will miss her beautiful, smilies.

I knew Betsy through GFWC. Betsy always brought a smile and was loved by MANY GFWC club women. Her enthusiasm was contagious and she helped to raise money for many GFWC causes. I will miss her.

Betsy was certainly one of a kind. Her humor and her kindness will be very hard to beat. I was fortunate to have traveled with Betsy and Martha Matthews for the past few years to GFWC Virginia events. There were laughs and experiences along the way. There were stops that had to be made, restaurants that had to be visited, stories that were always told and routes that generally were designed to go past a place that held a memory. This were valuable times for someone like me who is comparatively new to Federation. I feel lucky to have known Betsy and valued the times I spent in her company.

Betsy was a VOLUNTEER who made a difference. She inspired us to all do better. We will miss her on the GFWC circuit.

Betsy Doxey was a lovely and loving person. Her positive outlook rarely faltered; she could find something good in every situation, and she helped others find it too. Betsy gave to everyone the gift of laughter. With her sharp wit and comedic timing she could easily have been a stand-up comedienne. Betsy never turned down a request for help with Cape Henry Woman's Club fundraisers and charitable projects.  She served as President for two terms and was selected as Woman of the Year in 1989.  She was also a Past President of the Tidewater District GFWC VA.
Maya Angelou has said that people don't remember you for the things you do or say, but for how you made them feel. Betsy always made me feel happier than before.

The world has a little less sunshine and smiles without Betsy here with us. But I know without a doubt, heaven is a lot more fun with her there!!!
