Betty Johnson Nath, 72, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, with her children by her side. She died following an unexpected and tragic fall at home.

Betty was born at Portsmouth Naval Hospital to the late Monroe and Nora Jane Johnson. Betty spent nearly all her life in Coastal Virginia, a setting that shaped her life and loves. She had a lifelong fondness for lighthouses, seahorses, flowers and the ocean.

A graduate of Havelock High and Old Dominion University, Betty worked for many years in computer programming before changing course and opening her own flower shop on Shore Drive.

After a brief retirement, she returned to work alongside her daughter Kelly, where she spent the last five years doing what she enjoyed most: staying close to and supporting the people who mattered most to her.

Betty was an avid reader and found real happiness in simple things ... a good book, time with her grandchildren and a delicious meal surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her son, Brian Nath, and his wife Jessica; her daughter, Kelly Chase, and her husband Morgan; and her three grandchildren: Nath, Briar and Hayden. She is also survived by her three sisters: Janey, Sue and Cathy.

Her kindness, dependability and generosity will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to have her in their lives.
