Obituary For Beverly C. Harris

Norfolk, VA - Beverly C. Harris, a dedicated nurse and beloved mother passed on to glory on July 6, 2026 in Virginia Beach, VA, at the age of 77. Born in 1949, in Norfolk, Va She spent her life serving others with compassion and care.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, the late Dorothy Mae Harris and James Arthur Hayes in 1949 in Norfolk Va. Beverly was later adopted at the age of 2 years old and lovingly raised by the late Mr. and Mrs. George Sanders of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Beverly attended George Washington Carver in South Norfolk and then went on to Jacox High School in the 1950s and 60s. At the age of 19, Beverly was blessed with her one and only pride and joy, her son, Lamont Harris. She loved him deeply and carried great pride in being his mother.

As a resident of Norfolk, VA, Beverly pursued a noble vocation as a nurse aide in hospitals and nursing homes for patients in Norfolk and Chesapeake demonstrating unwavering dedication to her profession and the well-being of all those in her charge for over 50 years. Her nurturing spirit and gentle touch left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was not only known for her gentle touch but she also embodied the true spirit of a care giver making her patients feel and smell good while in her care. Beverly was a beacon of hope for countless families.

Beverly, fondly known as Ms. Harris, was known for having a green thumb and an avid plant and flower lover and if you knew anything about her you knew crabs were her favorite food in the world whether they were steamed or fried. Beverly also enjoyed life, had a sharp wit and a very fun-loving spirit and always liked to smell nice as she was a huge collector of some of the finest perfumes and oils on the market.

Beverly departed this life on July 6, 2026 while in hospice at Thalia Gardens in Virginia Beach. To the end Beverly fought a good fight and was determined that she was not going to let anything get her down, but Beverly is now basking in the sunshine of the glory of God. In her last few weeks Beverly spent quality time surrounded by her surviving son, Lamont Harris, her brother and sister-in-law, James and Sylvia Harris and her niece and nephew Shair Price and Dominic Harris and also very close family friend and spiritual warrior, Deborah Floyd.

Beverly leaves behind a legacy of family, friends, love and beautiful memories. She is survived by her son, Lamont Harris of Norfolk, her brother and sister-in-law James and Sylvia Harris of Norfolk, Va, Cousin Miira Perry of Washington DC and Keenan and Nolita Toler of Poughkeepsie, NY and a host of family and friends.

    Lamont and family, you have my deepest condolences. Miss Beverly was a dear friend that I truly loved. I will miss her stories and witty remarks. She knew how to make me laugh when I was feeling down. I am devastated that I won't see her on this Earth anymore, but I know I'll see her on the other side.

    Lamont, there are some people who become a cherished part of our childhood memories, and your mom will always be one of those people for me. I have known her for as long as I can remember, and I will always cherish the kindness she showed me throughout the years. The photos and laughs we've shared recently (texts) have brought back so many wonderful memories and reminded me of the impact she had on those who knew and loved her. She will be remembered with great fondness and will always hold a special place in my heart. My heartfelt condolences to you and your entire family. Ms. Beverly will truly be missed for her whitt, overwhelming strength, laughs, jokes, smile, her love and compassion that she's always shown towards me and my family!!
