Obituary For Beverly C. Harris

Norfolk, VA - Beverly C. Harris was born to the late Dorothy Mae Harris and James Arthur Hayes on February 6, 1949 in Chesapeake, Va. Beverly was later adopted and lovingly raised by the late Mr. and Mrs. George Sanders of Chesapeake, Virginia. At the age of 19, Beverly was blessed with her one and only pride and joy, her son, Lamont Harris. She loved him deeply and carried great pride in being his mother.

Beverly spent over 40 years as a nurse-aide caring for patients in hospitals and nursing homes in the city of Norfolk and Chesapeake, VA and she was not only known for her gentle touch but she also embodied the true spirit of a caregiver, making her patients not only feel but smell good and know they were truly being taken care of. Beverly was a beacon of hope for countless families.

Beverly, fondly known as Ms. Harris, had a green thumb and was known for being an avid plant and flower lover. Crabs were her favorite food in the world whether they were steamed or fried. Beverly also enjoyed life and had a very fun-loving spirit, and she always liked to smell nice and was a huge collector of some of the finest perfumes and oils on the market.

Beverly departed this life on July 6, 2026 while in hospice at Thalia Gardens in Virginia Beach. To the end Beverly fought a good fight and was determined that she was not going to let anything get her down, but Beverly is now basking in the sunshine of the glory of God. In her last few weeks Beverly spent quality time surrounded by her son, Lamont Harris, her brother and sister-in-law, James and Sylvia Harris and her niece and nephew Shair Price and Dominic Harris and also very close family friend and spiritual warrior, Deborah Floyd. Beverly leaves behind a legacy of family friends, love and beautiful memories.
