Obituary For Brian Dale Fatzer

Brian Dale Fatzer, 71, of Hampton VA, passed away on April 29, 2025. He was born on December 3, 1953, in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Fatzer.

He is survived by his daughters, Shannon E. McWilliams and Meaghan R. Fatzer, and grandchildren, Warren Cornelison and Alana Lackey, who carry on his legacy of kindness and compassion.

Brian valued life and always emphasized the importance of appreciating experiences along with way. He loved riding his old Harley, cooking on the grill, reading books, being on the beach, swimming in the ocean, being out in a boat, and playing his guitar under the night sky with family, friends, and any strangers, aka friends he hadn’t met yet, passing by. He was a man that could have a conversation with anyone and appreciated getting to know new people.

Brian was a father his daughters could trust and turn to, a loving Pap that adored his grandchildren, a mentor who gave thoughtful advice and a friend that always answered the phone when you needed him the most.

Brian was always an animal lover and adopted many dogs over the years, with a few dogs even adopting him along the way. His passion led him to open his own doggy daycare in Hampton, Furry Feet Pet Retreat, his dream and legacy.

Brian’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for animals and compassion for all the people around him will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched.

Although our family only met Brian a year ago, we have been touched by the community he created. We had pup at the furry feet retreat when we welcomed our first child and needed care for our dog cocoa. Brian, true to his nature, gave a vibe check with Luna, and really helped us with training and care as we navigated those challenging first newborn weeks. Brian's absence is felt in so many ways and our hearts are with the family.

Brian has been in my life sine 1973, most recently we would have dinner and brunch when we visited Williamsburg. I will never forget when he worked at Historic Williamsburg. Brian was one of my favorite divers at Fairmont, and he personally helped me in so many ways my first year. Brian, you will be missed.

To Shannon, Meaghan, Warren and Alana. I met Brian in church in 1976. After many years of estrangement we spoke a few years ago and we picked up where we left off. We spoke of our faith in Jesus and remembered the music we both loved. I believe he is in heaven now. I know he cared for you all so very much, and I hope you feel his love forever. Susan
