Obituary For Catherine Craig Keel

My beloved wife,mom and friend
Catherine Craig Keel of Virginia Beach passed peacefully in her sleep from Familial High Cholesterol Disorder on Thursday, November 14th. Taken from us too soon, she is now with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Catherine born in Norfolk Va. was a kind and compassionate soul who touched many lives.
Catherine graduated from Norview High school and worked 18 years at Burlington Coat Factory as head cashier, and front end manager. During her time there she received many customer compliments and service awards.
Catherine was most recently employed at WalMart, where she was appreciated for her reliability, humor, and festive seasonal attire.
Cathy enjoyed cooking, reading, hiking, sightseeing, vacationing in cabins throughout the Shenendoah mountains, Carnival cruises, snowstorms, thunderstorms, and
bowling, (she even had her own ball and shoes.)
After admiring her husband's photographs over the years,
Catherine also became interested in photography. She did not just point and shoot, but learned how to work the aperture and shutter speed. (She would ask, why pictures were too bright or dark.)
She loved taking pictures of beautiful flowers, wildlife, insects, and landscapes, many in her own backyard.
Catherine also enjoyed posing for photo shoots, attending concerts, dancing, and listening to music especially K-LOVE and American Family radio. Catherine was in the choir at Wave Church for many years, and loved attending The services.
She loved driving out to the country to pick
strawberries, tomatoes, cut broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage
On the way there she always looked forward to eating at Pungo Pizza for lunch on the way.
Catherine especially loved dressing up for all the holidays, with collections of earrings, necklaces, and clothing for the occasions.

Catherine is survived by her husband Randy of 33 years, her sisters Amy and Becky, her brother Kenny, her son Adam Witte, her daughter Rachel Tyler and children Lyric and Athen, and her daughter Emily Gangemi and children, Cyrus and Atticus.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Family Heart Foundation would be appreciated.
A celebration of life is being planned for a future date.

Catherine just had her yearly physical, and her blood pressure was under control, but what we didn't know was the FH, it was never diagnosed. Familial
hypercholesterolemia is a
genetic disorder. It is
caused by a gene variant
on chromosome 19. The
defect makes the body
unable to remove low
density lipoprotein (LDL, or
bad) cholesterol from the
blood. This results in a high
level of LDL in the blood, and the liver could not remove it.
