Charles Arthur Melvin, 73, of Newport News, Virginia, passed away on July 15, 2026.

Born on February 5, 1953, in Virginia, Charles was a hardworking man who took great pride in being self-employed and operating his own lawn care business. He believed in earning an honest living through dedication, perseverance, and the satisfaction of a job well done. Those who knew him respected his strong work ethic and his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed.

Charles lived life on his own terms, finding purpose in his work and appreciating the simple pleasures that each day brought. His quiet determination and independent spirit were qualities admired by those fortunate enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ladd Melvin and Eudora Harriett.

Charles leaves behind dear friends, including Cheryl D. Jackson, whose care and friendship meant so much throughout his life. He will also be remembered by neighbors, acquaintances, and all whose lives he touched with his kindness and steadfast character.

His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
