Obituary For Constance Lee (Ordway) Hopson

Knotts Island, NC - Constance Lee Hopson, born on April 11, 1951, in Portsmouth, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home in Knotts Island, North Carolina, on April 2, 2026, at the age of 74.

Constance's life was marked by dedication to her family, her community, and her passions. She spent her early years in Portsmouth, VA, and embraced the values of hard work and community service. A graduate of high school, her journey led her to a fulfilling career as a farmer. Her love for nurturing the land was evident in the care she took to cultivate not just crops, but also connections within her community. Later, she lent her talents to the Physical Education Department of a local elementary school, where her enthusiasm and commitment left a lasting impact on students and colleagues alike.

A woman of boundless creativity, Constance had a particular affection for holiday decorating. Her home was a testament to her vibrant spirit, with each season and holiday bringing new decorations that transformed her yard into a wonderland of color and joy. Christmas was an especially magical time, as her yard dazzled with over 100 Nutcrackers, creating a festive spectacle cherished by all who visited. Her remarkable talent extended to a special tree in her yard that she lovingly decorated each month, a living testament to her artistic vision and her joyous embrace of life’s seasons.

Constance was preceded in death by her parents, Albert S. and Constance I. (Cahill) Ordway, and her beloved daughter, Davette Lewis. She is survived by her devoted husband, David W. Hopson, her cherished granddaughter, Haley, as well as numerous other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
