Dana Coons, 77, of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away on June 10, 2026, at Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Born on September 16, 1948, in Wisconsin, Dana lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love for his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy Seabees, retiring as a Construction Mechanics Chief after 25 years of dedicated service. Following his military career, Dana went on to work for the United States Postal Service. After retiring from the postal service, he became a bus driver for The Williams School before finally retiring permanently.

Dana was a mechanic through and through. He loved tools, working on cars, NASCAR, and going to races with his son-in-law, Rob. Above all, Dana loved spending time with his family.

Dana was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pamela Anne Coons; his parents, Elsworth Coons and Edna Schaff; and other loved ones who passed before him.

He is survived by his four children, Rose, Michelle, Brian, and Brittany; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Dana’s legacy is one of service, hard work, and devotion to family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
