Obituary For Daniel Freeman Kepley

After a long, tough fight with COPD, Daniel “Danny” Kepley, 63, died peacefully in his Chesapeake home on May 24, 2020. He was surrounded by his closest loved ones, a big pot of beans, his famous chicken wings, and a beloved NASCAR race.

Danny was born in Norfolk, VA, and raised in Virginia Beach however, he was a true Deep Creeker at heart.

He awaits us all in Heaven, including the following: His significant other, Rose Beaudin; his daughters, Michelle Kepley Freeman and Melissa Kepley Stine; his sons Jesse Kepley, Ryan Kepley, and Kevin Griffith; his 5 grandchildren; and many, many friends and family.

He will forever be remembered as a kind, giving man, full of life and bad jokes. He could build a house from the ground up, grill like no other, and dance with the best of them. Until we meet again, we’ll all be pondering if we believe “the hand is quicker than the eye”.

If someone asked me, who was Danny Kepley? I would ask how much time do you have because I've known this man for 40 years and it could take awhile. My first thought is he's my brother my friend and a co-worker you could depend on beyond belief, a bad joke teller but you'd still laugh at them. A person that had no boundaries and didn't care where you came from or who you were related to Danny would open his home ,feed you and even put you to work. He showed patience and forgiveness something I witnessed many times. Danny also had a stubborn streak( just look at the football teams he followed) and change was tough for him. He fought hard when he first learned of his diagnosis and didn't let much change his routine, kept working, going to 7-11 for his morning coffee and enjoyed his cocktail hour after the day was done. Continued.

    Continued from Les Thorpe.
Danny and I shared many moments and experiences such as our work trips to Philly, Jimmy Buffet concerts and even his political views but most of all, how proud he was of his family. I could go on and on but I'm sure someone will cut me off. So until we get passed this virus and we can all gather and really celebrate Danny and tell more great stories I will close.
Jeanette and I send our condolences to the family and we share in such a great loss.
    Love you all,
    Les and Jeanette
