Obituary For Daniel Leonard Putzke, Sr.
Norfolk - Daniel Leonard Putzke, Sr., a devoted son, husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 81. Born on November 28, 1943, in Buffalo, New York, Daniel lived a life marked by service, dedication, and hard work.
An Army veteran, Daniel proudly served his country before embarking on a distinguished career as an electrician with Bethlehem Steel Corporation. His commitment to his craft was evident in everything he did, and he leaves behind a legacy of excellence and integrity.
Daniel's educational journey included earning an Associate's degree, which laid the foundation for his successful professional endeavors. Throughout his life, he was guided by strong values instilled by his parents, Elvin and Jeanne (Hovey) Putzke, who preceded him in death.
Dan loved reading, puzzles, John Wayne movies, history and science documentaries, and his family. He worked for years as a Cubmaster and was known for the special Pinewood Derby track, cars and trophies he created. He liked to do things that allowed him to spend time with his family on vacations to Disney.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Marie (Llewellyn) Putzke, and his 3 cherished children, Marie Putzke, Holly Zebrowski (Todd Becker), Daniel Putzke Jr (Torsha Henry). He was very proud of his four amazing grandchildren: Michelle and Emily Zebrowski and Tatiana and Zachary Putzke. Daniel also has a half-sister Kathryn Harper (husband Tom) and their family. He was predeceased by two half sisters: Karen Dellapenta (and her husband Pat) and Janice Crisel-Summers. Uncle Dan was loved by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Daniel's presence will be deeply missed by the many family members and friends who knew and loved him.
At this time, no services are planned. Except to a chosen few, Dan was fairly shy. He never liked being the center of attention. If you could get past his shell and walls, he was a big tease and often very funny with a big heart. Simply Cremation is assisting the family with arrangements.
