Obituary For David Andrew Hill

David Andrew Hill, age 68, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025.

David was a man of many talents and interests. Throughout his life, he was a dedicated Christian and served others with his skills and knowledge in mechanics and engineering. As a young man, he volunteered at Zuni Children’s Home for special needs children. David had a diverse career history, serving as a medic in the US Air Force, working as a waiter, and participating in a shipyard apprenticeship before finding his calling in HVAC. He retired as an HVAC supervisor in 2023.

In his free time, David loved camping, taking road trips, and, most of all, telling stories. He was a beloved member of the "Breakfast Club" at the Salem Woods Dog Park, where he shared many laughs with friends. He was always willing and able to help friends, family and neighbors.

He is reunited in heaven with his mother, Edith Hill; his father, CJ Hill; and his sister, Linda Hill.

David's memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 44 years, Dawn Denise Hill. He is also survived by his daughters, Adrienne Gantt (Anton-husband), Jessica Hill, and Meredith Murphy (Donnie-husband); his sisters, Lora H. Cutler (Bunny and Roy) and Rebecca A. Freeman (Becky and Joseph); and his grandchildren, Joshua Hill, Jamie Wilson (Harrison-husband), Tristan Hill, Lilly-Anne Franks, and Naomi Murphy. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Hazel Wilson. David leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly, as well as his special friend Reese.

David will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Providence Presbyterian Church (5497 Providence Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23464). A reception will follow at the church.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Canine Companions, an organization that provides service dogs to those in need.

Simply Cremation is assisting David's family with the arrangements.

I have known David for very many years, through my best friend, Dawn and the wonderful memories that now never seemed like enough. David's laugh it was contagious. there would be times that just out of the blue, I would get a text message from him telling me to check out the latest sarcastic joke that he had found that day and would share it with me. David was a hard-working man that always took care of his family. James and I will miss you very much. love prayers and condolences to all of the family.
