David William Barton, 77, of Virginia Beach, passed away on March 22, 2025. He was born on May 29, 1947, to Thelma Pauline Myrick and William Elisha Barton in Evansville, IN.

David proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, retiring after many years of dedicated service. After his time in the military, he continued to serve his community as a school bus driver for Virginia Beach Public Schools, where he became a familiar and friendly face to many students and families.

In his younger days, David enjoyed hunting and fishing, finding peace in nature. Later in life, he enjoyed watching TV and singing, sharing his love of music with those around him. David was an active member of Apostles Lutheran Church in Chesapeake, where he was a beloved part of the church choir and often volunteered for events, offering his time and talents to help others.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Pauline Barton, and his father, Elijah William Barton. He is survived by his loving wife, Georgia Lee Barton; daughter, Heather Napolitano; brother, Doug Barton (Karen); sister, Judy Nunn; grandson, James Pinkerton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service to honor David’s life will be held at a later date. The family asks that you keep them in your thoughts during this difficult time as they reflect on the warmth and joy David brought into their lives. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he gave to all.
