  I knew Don for many years as a co-worker at ODU. He was a kind and caring person who took his job seriously and did it well. I was always glad to serve on any committee that included Don because I knew we would accomplish the task at hand and have fun doing it! That ever present twinkle in his eye meant there were ways to work hard but enjoy doing it. ODU was fortunate to have him in their employ and I was blessed to know him.

  I always enjoyed attending TATC Tuesday Group events with Don, for his seeming endless cheerfulness and good will. We sometimes missed him, because he was spending time in Ovid, the Ithaca area in upstate New York, and we'd be happy to see him and his classic wooden kayak again with us when he returned.
