Music was my connection with Donny. We had such high hopes of playing music together when he returned to Virginia Beach! We were both so excited after each rehearsal. Life has so many twists and turns I don't understand. But, Donny will always be in my heart and with every song, played, he will be remembered. Love you, my friend.

Donny Z made the JP Griffon special! We are so sad to hear of Donny's passing but we will celebrate and cherish our many happy memories forever. He was a great supporter of the fishing tournament and loved to share his gift of music with all. Every year we opened our banquet with a song from Donny and it was always a great start to our event. We will miss him and I will think of him often as I wade the south shoreline as Donny would say "Down There".

Our families met sometime around grade school . Many of us played tackle football in the vacant lot across from Don's home on Edinburgh Dr. We took swimming lessons together and later spent years at the beach, skim boarding, riding waves, and enjoying a lot of laughter and fun, so typical of beach boys. His mom and dad where always engaging and supportive. Along the way we all grew closer during his band years with Smee and Smee 2. Don shared his musical talent freely with his friends and church. For a man who's last name was always mispronounced or misspelled, his LOVE for his family, his music, and friends, was always clear, never confusing or hard to spell. I do not have a single memory of Don that I do not cherish. My prayers go out to his dad,his daughter, sisters, and family. May they find comfort in their memories of Don and his pursuit of good.

A dear friend of ours passed away this morning. He was a wonderful musician and entertainer. But more than that, he was a wonderful person, always greeted you with a smile, always there willing to help, always coming to you with so much positive energy and a wonderful sense of humor. He worked with us at Apre' Ski events and was my musician back when we did our "Family Night Goes Western" wild west dinner theatre show. He was a blast to play with on stage and nothing phased him - he met anything that came up with a smile. He will be really missed. I will miss him. I hope he knew how much he was loved. Here's the you Donny Z.. Rest in peace.
