Obituary For Ellen Jean Brown

Ellen Jean Brown (Griffin), age 66, passed away peacefully May 29th, 2012 in her home in Chesapeake, VA.

Ellen was born March 11, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA to William Jennings and Florence Griffin. Ellen was the youngest of seven brothers and sisters: Alice, Gladys, William, James, Jeanette, and Ruth Anna.

Ellen was a long time resident of South Jersey. Ellen graduated from Williamstown High School, class of 1964 before residing in Voorhees, New Jersey. Ellen worked for Towers Perrin as a Benefits Administrator, a career she took great pride in, so much so that when the company was expanding to Chesapeake, VA they asked Ellen to be a part of this expansion. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Ellen relocated to VA where she worked until she retired.

Ellen loved to dance and sew. She taught dance for several years and also danced on the Steel Pier in Atlantic City, NJ. Ellen enjoyed her classic cars. She was a member of the Port Richmond Cruisers.

Ellen was the loving mother of Carin (Frank) and Cathy (John), both of Chesapeake, VA, and a wonderful Mom- Mom to her five grandchildren: Nicole Catherine, Laura Ashlee, Erin Nicole, Meadow Lisa and Caiden John. Nothing gave her greater joy then spending time with her five grandchildren.

Services and interment will be private.

Our thoughts are with you Carin, Cathy, and the entire family. Ellen was a great person and I will miss how you made us all laugh. I will miss how much you complimented my cooking, even if it was not so good to everyone else. You will be missed!!
