George Marvin Woolard, Jr., 76, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on September 24, 2023, after a yearlong battle with cancer. George “Marvin” was born in Norfolk, Virginia on March 27, 1947, to Virginia Mae and George M. Woolard, Sr. Marvin served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He was also a retired Fire Captain serving for 26 years with the City of Norfolk’s Department of Fire-Rescue.

Sheila K. Woolard, 69, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away in her home on September 17, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. Sheila was born in Newport, Rhode Island on April 7, 1954 to Sammie Louise and Earl J. Roberts. Sheila was a loving and devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She dedicated her life to the caring and nurturing of her family.

Marvin and Sheila were soulmates who felt a deep connection from the start. They were married on July 1, 1970, and shared a love for one another that lasted over 53 years. Together they had five children. Marvin and Sheila are survived by their five children: Kimberly Markowski, Wayne Woolard, Valerie Woolard, Kristy Woolard and Jeannette Brennell; their fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Marvin is survived by his sister, Delores L. Brown and Sheila is survived by her sister, Patricia Levine and brother, Kenneth Roberts.

Memorial services will be held at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery located at 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, Virginia 23434 on October 20, 2023 at 10:00 am.
