Obituary For Gertrude Lombardi

Gertrude Lombardi (Trudi), was born on February 19, 1927, in Washington D.C., peacefully passed away on June 8, 2026, in Williamsburg, Virginia, at the age of 99.

Trudi worked at North Arundel hospital in Maryland for the Endoscopy department until she retired. After retiring, raising four children and caring for her aged mother she moved from Pasadena Maryland to Ocean View Delaware. In Delaware Trudi became friends with so many. With them she traveled the world, attended Broadway shows, hosted dinner parties, and cared for friends when the need arose. She dedicated a significant portion of her later life to serving her community. She was a volunteer with the Millville DE fire department for over 25 years; she volunteered at the Millville Public Library, Meals on Wheels, and the Sheriff’s department where her kindness and commitment left a lasting impact on those she worked alongside and helped. In her mid-90’s she moved Williamsburg, VA to be closer to her daughter, Lenore.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John and Francesca DiBenidetto; her sister Mary (Dutch) Bergfeld, and brother Saverio (Mary) DiBenedetto, her son John Lombardi, and daughter Kim Lombardi. She is survived by her son Garvin (Elizabeth) Lombardi, and daughter Lenore (Barry) Lombardi. Gertrude leaves behind a loving extended family and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren including: Anthony, Lucius, and Raven Lombardi; Chris (Jamie), Orion, and Ariella Lombardi; Stephanie (Ty) Patterson; Nickie (Roger) Fletcher; Keith (Tammy), Donna, Adriann and Annabel Johnson; Kristen and Graham Wylder; Carla (Aaron) and Tucker Thompson; David (Margaret) Oliver, Demi, and Sam Drewry; John (Cassie) Lombardi. She is also survived by extended family members, and numerous friends who will cherish her memory and celebrate her life.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date to honor and remember Gertrude. Her family appreciates your understanding and support during this time of loss.
