Virginia Beach - Gilbert Michael Barter, a devoted husband and dedicated servant to his country, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA, at the age of 71. Born on March 14, 1954, in Watertown, NY, Gilbert lived a life marked by service and commitment.

Gilbert proudly served his nation as a member of the United States Navy, dedicating many years to protecting and advancing the interests of his country. Following his active duty, he continued his career in civil service for the U.S. Navy, contributing his skills and expertise to the operations that support our nation's defense.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, George and Constance (Bennett) Barter. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Karen Louise Barter, who stood by his side throughout his life's journey; their children, Dustin Barter and Wendi Beamon; grandchildren, Raven Kinsey, Jayde and Chaynce Beamon; and great grandchildren, Cora and Coast Kinsey.
