  I am so sad to hear of Gretchen's passing. She was a great and FUN friend to me throughout high school in Roanoke, VA. I remember sleepovers at her house with her adorable schnauzers. Jimbo and Mary Jane were such awesome parents. She excelled at tennis and had the best laugh. The world is losing a great woman and I hope you know my sympathy is with you.

  I have known the Barnes family for the last 50 yearsI I had the pleasure of being an assistant Football coach along with Fred Britton, and Guy played for us at First Colonial High School. I did not know Gretchen personally but I had the pleasure of knowing Tommy and Claudia and their family for all of my adult life. When I coached baseball at College of the Albemarle, they were always my loyal supporters. I have never known a better family. My wife and I mourn the loss of Gretchen and send our condolences to the entire Barnes family, most especially Guy.
