A proud veteran, James served his country honorably in the United States Army. Following his military service, he dedicated many years as a logistics specialist for the Department of Defense and later as a consultant. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident throughout his career, and he was respected and admired by all who had the privilege of working with him.

Beyond his professional life, James was a man of warmth and kindness. He cherished his family deeply and had an unwavering love for them. His affection extended to his beloved cats, who brought him great joy and companionship over the years. He was quite a cat lover.

His kindness extended into every corner of his life, touching family, friends, colleagues, and community alike. Whether through a listening ear, a helping hand, or a gift freely given, James embodied the spirit of giving in all its forms. His legacy is one of compassion, selflessness, and a deep commitment to uplifting others.

James leaves behind his devoted wife, Aida (Delgado) Laster, a loving daughter, Tara L. Marcus, her husband, Larry Marcus, and four step-granddaughters. He is also survived by his sister, Lindsey Arnold, and many cousins and friends who will sorely miss his presence and friendship.

Jim was an amazing man who really cared for his family. He was the grandfather that Elliott never had. He loved animals and especially his cats as much as he loved humans. He will always have my deepest respects and may he rest in peace.

I will always remember great uncle James as a kind soul with a friendly face for everyone he met. May his memory be an inspiration to us all to be more charitable to others (and animals!) in our daily lives.

I always enjoyed talking with Uncle Jim about our family and especially his memories of my Papaw since he passed when I was so young. I will miss his affection for family and how he was always ready to share a good laugh. Will miss you buddy!

Thank you to all of you. My husband was truly an honorable man. He was a man of his word, his 'Yes' was Yes and his 'No' was No, always honest, always clear. Pursuit me with great consideration, consistency, passion, and conviction. I believe I got the best and raw version of Jim. He made me very happy with him I became content especially this last year. This past 24 years was a work in progress for him, this Puerto Rican was transformed and became a hillbilly by association and a darn good one he would have said. For his 90th birthday all he wanted was to visit the highest point as possible in the Shenandoah national Park, so we went to Skyline Inn. I most say I was impressed with the beauty of the Blue ridge and our country. He loves those mountains, the beauty, his heritage, you can take the boy out of the mountain, but not the mountain out of the boy! It was a beautiful and happy time we had with Tara, Larry, and cousin Bud. To tell you the truth I enjoyed that trip more than he did. He said few times that he had no regrets, had lived a long life that most people hardly have that opportunity and we did it together. Thank you for sharing with me all your memories and condolences. God bless you all.

Uncle James always loved his family and took care of them. He loved talking about the family and times gone by. He always had a quiet voice but there was no mistaking the hard headiness underneath. He will be greatly missed. Tammy
