Obituary For James Michael Svec

James Michael Svec, 44, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022. He was born in Norfolk, VA July 20, 1978, but spent most of his childhood in Brunswick, ME and hoped to retire there later in life. He attended Maury High School and was employed with CMA CGM in downtown Norfolk.

Besides his love and adoration for his children, James had a deep passion for music. He especially loved playing the guitar and taking daughter Lucy to concerts of her favorite bands.

With his wonderful sense of humor and ability to impersonate, he could always bring laughter and fun to any occasion. He was a kind and loving father, son, brother and friend. He will truly be missed by so many.

James was preceded in death by his father, James Hynek Svec. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lucy Elle Svec and Elijah Walker Svec, his mother Ellie McAlpine Svec, brother Matthew Scott Svec, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A celebration of James' life will be held at a later date.

    James was one of a kind. I met him through a friend while seeing a band play and since that night he always went out of his way to contact me and see how I was doing. We ended up being friends for years because of his kindness and concern and we bonded over music and our ridiculous sense of humor that was so alike. James was so much fun and so full of love and compassion for those around him. He always gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and treated people with true kindness. I will miss you James, thank you for always checking on me and looking out for me but even more so for connecting with me and being a true friend.

    James, you brought so many laughs and good times to Maury back in our high school days. You were such a good friend. We had lost touch over the years but I was happy to recently find out that your daughter was a student in my class. I saw that last name and said wait what's your dad's name? She shared with me your sweet message when she told you that I was her teacher and I will forever remember that. I was heartbroken with the news of your passing but I am so thankful to have met your daughter. She has the sweetest personality just like you. Rest In Peace my friend.
