Virginia Beach, VA - Jamie Lynn Payfer, born on November 9, 1978, in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, passed away on September 14, 2026, in Chesapeake, Virginia, at the age of 47. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her.

Jamie’s life was marked by her deep and abiding love for animals, a passion that she transformed into a lifelong vocation. She dedicated her career to animal care, tirelessly working to ensure the well-being of countless creatures who benefited from her empathy and commitment.

Her gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to the welfare of animals were evident to all who met her. Jamie's connection with animals was matched by her kindness and generosity towards those around her, making her a cherished friend and confidante to many.

Jamie was steadfastly loyal to her friends and has several friendships stretching back to early elementary school. She was compassionate, caring and quick to offer help wherever she could. She loved the show General Hospital which became something of a family tradition with her mother, father and sister. Throughout her life, she embodied the values of compassion and service. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Judy (Austin) Payfer. She is survived by her father, John "Jack" Payfer, her husband, Neil Kennedy, from whom she was separated, her six children, Ryan, Cheyenne, Sean, Stephanie, Patrick and Autumn, as well as a host of other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
