John Harris Pugh, Jr., 77, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2023. He was born on May 9, 1946 to the late Hattie and John Pugh, Sr. in Richmond, VA.

John married Edna Mae Pugh on December 27, 1979. John was a painter for NASA and the VA Hospital, and worked in Maintenance at Bush Gardens. He was also a member of American Legion Post 0368. John Served in the Army from October 28, 1966 thru October 20, 1969 as a SP4.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hattie and John Harris Pugh, Sr., his beloved wife Edna Mae Pugh, stepsons Archie Wilson Clinton and Eugene Dale Clinton, and granddaughter Kirstyn Amanda Clinton.

Left to cherish his memory are brothers Richard “Butch” Pugh and wife of Arlington, TX and Nicholas “Nicky” Pugh of Mechanicsville, VA, sister-in-law and caregiver Jayne Major of Newport News, VA, along with numerous sisters/ brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews from West Virginia and Virginia, along with great-niece and caregiver Sherry DuBose and family from Texas.

A memorial service will be held on August 31, 2023 at 12 pm at Menchville Baptist Church; 248 Menchville Rd. Newport News, VA 23602 with a burial to follow.
