  I'm so shocked and saddened to learn of John's passing. My deepest condolences to his family. John and I were very close as youths in early adolescence. What wonderful mischief we got into together! I'm so much the better for our time and I don't think I've ever again laughed as hard and as long as with him. My first job was working at the Motel with him in 1970, but we'd already been close friends for several years, goofing around at the 24th St house, trips to the Farm for work and play, then working together and roaming the beach afterwards. Needless to say we had the time of our lives. 45 years later I don't think I've laughed as hard or as long with anyone else as with John. We were blood brothers. He was special.   This is hard. Ate lunch with John at FC. Rode with him to ODU. He loaned us his blue van to go to the OBX. The last few years, I'd see him at the rec working out. John took an interest in my life, called me brother, and always had a laugh and a smile. Ive lost a life long friend. God Bless you my brother.

  John assisted in helping both of my sons with strength training. He was their mentor in this prior to high school. Both turned into good athletes. That education in the correct methods to train has served both well through the years. I was always impressed in John's easygoing demeanor and vast knowledge. Rest easy John and thank you Sir.

  This is sad to hear. My family has known John from the mid 80's. My brother Kenny was an avid member of his gym, Olympian Gym at Shore Dr. and Great Neck Rd. He even let Kenny, me, and a few others lock up when he left early. A great guy. Quiet, but so polite and kind. You will be missed, man. Love Mike and Ginger Cummings
