Obituary For Jonathan Story O'Connor

Virginia Beach, VA - Jonathan Story O'Connor, born on March 9, 1956, in Portsmouth, Virginia, passed away on April 14, 2026, in Norfolk, VA, at the age of 70. A devoted husband and a cherished stepfather, Jonathan was known for his dedication to his family and his work as a respected Real Estate Agent.

After earning his Bachelor's Degree at Old Dominion University, Jonathan embarked on a career in sales, and eventually a successful career in real estate, where he made significant contributions to the field through his expertise and commitment to his clients.

Jonathan had a deep appreciation for wine and fine dining and loved to travel with Wendy. He was a huge Billy Joel fan, and Wendy even “kidnapped” him once and took him to a concert in Raleigh. Jonathan was very interested in aviation history, especially World War II planes.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Francis and Sarah (Story) O'Connor. He leaves behind his loving wife, Wendy (Thomas) O'Connor, and his stepdaughters, Courtney Edelblute (Drew) and Brianne Mingin, sisters Francis Sarah Story, Dianne Lee, and Stephanie Kibler, his nephew Bart Bryant, and his niece Amanda Brent (Matt), and grandchildren Ethan, Gabi, Jacob, William, Harper and Clara. He was preceded in death by his beloved dachshund, Sophie. Jonathan was a resident of Virginia Beach at the time of his passing.

A private Celebration of Life will be held for family at a future date. Simply Cremation is assisting his family through this process. In the hearts of those who knew him, Jonathan will be remembered for the love he shared with Wendy for 21 years, and for his sense of humor and his love of God.
