Obituary For Joseph Grant Turner Jr.

Chesapeake- Joseph Grant Turner, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA, passed peacefully on Monday, September 30, 2024. He was born in Norfolk, VA and was a 1961 graduate of Norview High School. He later became a Lieutenant in the Norfolk Fire Department where he served his hometown for 32 years.
Pop Pop, as he was lovingly known to his grandchildren, enjoyed road trips, growing his tomato plants, talking with neighbors, and any kind of history, in particular the Civil War. He was also an avid watcher of golf and Family Feud.
Joseph is survived by his brother, Jeffrey L. Turner (Kay) of Mooresville, NC, his son Joseph G. Turner III (Brenda Williams), daughter Jeanne Vanbuskirk, and daughter Adrienne Nadeau (Joseph), all of Chesapeake. He is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins that all loved him dearly.
Preceding him in death are his father, Joseph G. Turner, Sr. born in Hopewell, VA, mother Ruby Johnson Turner born in Surry County, VA, sister Phyllis Lee Baxley of Beech Island, SC and brother David E. Turner of Norfolk.

    He was super great guy always making us laugh so sweet we called him pop pop too he was a great dad grandpa great grandpa heather so loved 😍 her pop pop

    He was my grandfather and I called him pop pop. My nickname from him was pumpkin head. I miss his laugh, smile, jokes, and sense of humor.
