Obituary For Joy Beth Scarcella

Joy Beth Scarcella, age 76 was welcomed into Glory by her Heavenly Father on January 25, 2021. She succumbed to her illnesses of dementia and recent diagnosis of lung cancer. She is now heavenly healed and mercifully restored by her Savior. Beth was a woman of strong faith and was proud to pass such a legacy to her children. She often played hymns on the piano and always enjoyed a chocolate dessert! She was a resident of Texas most all her life, until the passing of her husband, Lawrence in 2018 and then spent her last few years living with her daughter, Tiffany’s family in MD and VA, where she passed peacefully at home in Virginia Beach. During her working years, she was a bookkeeper in the chemical and auto industries. Beth was a fond collector of Native American art and was proud of her Cherokee heritage. Beth had a witty sense of humor at times and cared deeply for her family. Beth was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Lawrence Scarcella; her parents Joyce and Elmer Ingle; her brother Ron Ingle and son, Larry Scarcella. She is survived by her daughters, Terry Cogan, Sharon Yarbrough and husband Weldon, Karen Maynard and husband Terry, Melissa Scarcella, Tiffany Catlin and husband Dan; grandchildren to whom she was “Mimi” Kathleen Cogan, Kevin Cogan, Jennifer Yarbrough, Wesley Yarbrough and wife Melinda, Michael Brizendine and wife Erin, Kristi Cox and husband Justin, Brian Maynard and wife Kristi, Macy Catlin and Sofia Catlin; greatgrandchildren, Kaden Cogan, Kiersten Yarbrough, Camryn Yarbrough, Hunter Yarbrough, Peyton Cox, Harper Cox, Marissa Maynard, Lorelei Maynard and Carter Maynard; and her sister Cheryl Ingle and nephews, Chad and Daniel Ingle. Additionally, there are many other nieces and nephews to whom she was Aunt Beth.

An intimate Memorial Service will be held in Beth’s hometown of La Porte, TX at a future date in Spring of this year where she will be at rest with her love and husband. “â?¦but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” John 16:22

Such a lovely tribute. It was so nice to read and learn a little more about your mom and family. I always feel a little smile in my heart when I know someone is in the presence of Jesus now. Such a beautiful thing. Iâ??m praying for you all.

A beautiful soul, my heart rejoiced when she smiled at, cheerfully chatted with me and played piano for me the first time we met. Love to you and your family, with prayers going up for comfort.

    Love you.

Such a beautiful tribute to your mama. It's wonderful to see how her love of Jesus was passed on to her children and grandchildren. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Holding and your family in love and hugs, Tiffany! Admittedly, I chuckled at the fact your mom loved chocolate desserts... A fun and special connection between you two. Thankful for her faith, your faith and God's promise of peace forevermore!
