Chesapeake, VA - Joyce Marie (Runyan) Straits, age 92, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, in Chesapeake, Virginia after living a full and happy life.

Born on May 3, 1934, in Pratt, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Russell Runyan Crosby and Velma (Baker). She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Raymond George Straits.

Joyce was a devoted homemaker, dedicating her life to nurturing her family with love and care. Her gentle spirit and warm heart touched many. Her legacy of kindness and strength will live on through those who knew her.

Joyce is survived by her loving daughter, Catherine Hasebe (Harry) of Chesapeake, Virginia, son, Steve Straits of Union Grove, Alabama, grandchildren, Steven Straits (Corey) of Huntsville, Alabama, Ryan Straits of Union Grove, Alabama, and Samantha Straits (Cade Griffin) of Huntsville, Alabama. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Fox Straits and Luca Griffin.

Per our mother’s wish, there will be no memorial service or funeral. She wanted to go out of this world quietly and did not want a service so we will be honoring that wish. She will be missed.
