Obituary For Kathryn McIntosh Christian

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA

Kathryn McIntosh Christian went to rest in the arms of the Angels on January 4, 2014. She was 65. Kathy was pre-deceased by her parents, Edna Ruth and Edward R. McIntosh, both of VA Beach, and a brother Howard "Mack" McIntosh also of VA Beach. She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Richard "Rick" Christian; a daughter and BBF, Mamie Christian; four sons, Jonathan Christian, William "Billy" Crowling and his wife Stacey, Cary Crowling, all of VA Beach, and Jeremiah Brumley and his wife Shelly of Colorado; seven grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, many friends, sisters of choice, nieces and nephews. Kathy was a life long native of Virginia Beach. The sands on the beaches and the salt water of the bay and ocean were among the many loves of her home area. She was a member of Baylake United Methodist Church and a leader in many local projects and charities. Kathy was a major supporter, volunteer and organizer for Frogs For Freedom, giving many hours and years to our local Navy Seal Team members and their families. Additionally she was active in several Motorcycle Rider Benefits in the area. Whenever there was a need, she was the first in line to say "how can I help, what can I do?" If she heard no answer, well, "she did it her way" which is the way she lived her life. She suffered many health problems in recent years but never let them slow her down. Kathy was an animal lover, a gardener of herbs, spices, unusual plants, and had a passion for seasonal décor, most favorite being Halloween and Christmas. No arrangement was complete until the "sparkle" of sequins were added! The family requests privacy to morn their sudden loss. Her memorial will be planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to: UDT SEAL ASSOC./Frogs for Freedom, P.O. Box 5965, VA Beach 23471 with memo: In memory of Kathy Christian.

You are invited to leave condolences to the family and messages online at www.simplycremationonline.com.

Kathy a bright lighthouse, our neighborhood mother, always open for advice & comfort, loved our family as if it were her own. I remember the gardenia bush I cut very low because it had a plant disease on it, I did not know how much Kathy loved it & when she told me I had great regrets for not picking an alternative method to cure our bush. Some seasons have passed the bush has a little bit of growth on it & every time a gardenia flower bloomed I felt I had to trim it off nicely & give it to Kathy to let her know how much I loved her & her bush & how much I wanted to be a good neighbor & return the kindness she so warmly shined on our family. Our neighborhood & hearts, where she has grown deep roots, has suffered a tragic traumatic loss. I know how spiritually attuned Kathy is to Nature & the animals, a great guardian is journeying home, & if there is anything at all we can do to help her family please do not hesitate to ask. We love you Kathy, you will be deeply missed.

I knew Kathy in high school and for a long time afterward. She was an amazing and very funny person. She was always laughing and making you laugh. I will always remember her. She was a good friend to all and a very good mother. May God be with her always. I am sure she is making someone laugh as I write this.

Kathy took me under her wing 33 years ago when we met in Scottsdale AZ. She took me to Colorado with her, made me part of her family and changed my life forever. So many adventures, laughs and lessons learned over the years, I couldn't even begin to list them. Kathy never met a stranger. Everybody that was lucky enough to have met her knows what I am talking about. She was bigger than life and a fiercely loyal, funny, pillar of strength. She LOVED a party, especially one for a good cause, and her beautiful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her loving and devoted husband and her friends were the lights of her life. There aren't too many people outside of my family that have had as much impact on my life as my dear, forever friend Kathy and I will miss her more than words can say. I'll see you on the other side my sister. Hugs to you Rick, Mamie and the "boys". I love you all so much.

Kathy you will forever be remembered in our hearts and shared in our thoughts. You opened your house and heart to our family. You have touched each and everyone in such a special way. No matter what, you always made a good time happen. You contributed to the  man John is today, which he will never forget. The memories you have given us will always live on, as so will you in every moment of our day. She was so special and dear To so many here Oh how we cherished our Time with her here below But for each there will come a time to go Dismayed we were when angels Above took our beloved In God's plan there is no sickness or pain Just all of God's riches to gain Just remember nothing is greater Then to spend eternity with our Creator For that is God's Greatest Plan Our deepest sympathy and condolences to Rick, Mamie, Jonathan, Cary, Jeremiah & Billy. Please know we love you all very much. You all are in our thoughts & prayers everyday. May God bless you all in your time of need.

Mommy I miss you, I miss your warm hug and your silly commentary. I miss The encouragement, and sometimes the reality checks. You left behind one amazing husband, without him I would be lost. You raised 5 AMAZING Children that Keep your spirit alive in all that they do. You were the backbone that kept everyone together and you left so many friends and beautiful family members behind. I hope heaven was ready for you, because the world is a different place without you. As for all of you, You all encourage, and inspire me with your stories and successes with my mom. I can only hope to be half the woman that my mom was. she will live on forever within us. Until I see you again, Rest in peace my beautiful Mommy you are missed but NEVER forgotten<3

SUCCESS To laugh often and much  to win the respect of intelligent people  and affection of children; to earn the  appreciation of honest critics and  endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child a garden patch or redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have  succeeded. -Ralph Waldo Emerson  Kathy for all these reasons and more was one of the most successful friends I've ever known. I will remember her forever.

I feel lucky and blessed to have met Kathy when I did; warm, funny, intelligent, thoughtful and always a straight shooter was the Kathy I got to meet, and I'm better for it. God must've really needed her help to organize some event in heaven because she still had so much love and help to spread down here to be called so soon. May the heavenly father send his angels to wrap his love around and watch over Rick, Jonathan, Mamie and all of Kathys family in their time of loss and sorrow.

Heartfelt sympathy to Kathy's family and friends at this sorrowful time. I'm grateful to have been introduced to Kathy and she certainly lived up to the wonderful things her friends spoke of. She welcomed me into her home and circle as though she had always known me. She was warm, personable and fun loving. I can only imagine the void she has left. I pray it is filled with all the loving memories you shared with her. God bless you all with peace and comfort at this sad time.

How do I even find the words to express my joy and love for the gift of knowing Kathy and being called “Little Sister” & “Little Girl” by her so many times I can hear her voice as I type… I know she’s in loving hands and has been met already by the loved ones who left us before. I bet they are having one of the biggest parties in heaven that they have had in a while. I’m so happy for her and so sad for the loved ones who are having to continue to live and breathe and find a way to cope with such a devastating loss in their daily lives. I know she is with them in spirit, but it’s just not the same. My thoughts and prayers go out to them and lift them up for healing at this difficult time. God Speed Kathy! …and God Bless her family and loved ones~

"Kathy, my chosen sister, my friend, my confidant, you left an un-fillable void in my life but I will forever hold you in my heart". Rick, Mamie, Jon, Billy, Cary, and Idgie Mae and Kyle too, I love you all. My home, my heart and my door are always open. I am but a phone call away. I shall carry with me the family memories we made together thru the years. Our trips, gatherings, birthdays, fun times and times of sorrow we always bonded as one family. Lest we forget, may that never change. I love you.
