Obituary For Kevin W. Lyman

Kevin W. Lyman, 64, of Norfolk, VA, died of complications from multiple myeloma on Friday, June 19, 2026. Kevin was born on October 21, 1961 in Binghamton, NY to Karl Arthur Lyman and Phyllis Mae (Beswick) Lyman.

After graduating from Union-Endicott High School in 1980, Kevin worked as an EMT and, with his engineer’s mind, went into computer and exercise equipment repair. He was always tinkering and preferred refurbishment over replacement.

Kevin married Bonnie (Yarrington) in 1986 and they had daughters Sarah and Lyndsey. Kevin met his second wife, (Mary) Lorraine (Vergason) in 1996. They moved to Virginia and were married in 1999. Kevin and Lorraine were together a total of 30 years, until he passed.

Kevin will be remembered for his determination and positive attitude in the face of many challenges, his love for science fiction and tacos, his quick wit and dry humor, and above all else, his love for his wife Lorraine and daughters Sarah and Lyndsey.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Lorraine; daughters Sarah (Dan Azzolini) and Lyndsey (Zack LeViere) Lyman and grandsons Beckett and Samson; brothers Gordon and Kenneth (Tracy) Lyman; sisters Lynda Broadfoot and Cheryl (James) King; seven nephews; step-sons Tom and Chris Vergason; step-son-in-law Johnny Lynn Gray; step-granddaughter Sarah (Logan) Wilson; close friend Tim Broadfoot; and his beloved dog, Sasha.

He is pre-deceased by his parents, Karl Lyman and Phyllis Lyman, and step-daughter Lisa Vergason.

A celebration of life will be held for family and close friends in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Union Mission Ministries of Norfolk, Norfolk SPCA, or the worthy charity of your choice. Friends and loved ones are invited to share memories and express their condolences at SimplyCremationOnline.com.
