Obituary For Larry Vincent Skur

Larry Vincent Skur, age 76, passed away on February 15, 2026, in Newport News, Virginia. Born on October 25, 1949, in Washington D.C., Larry was the beloved son of the late Rena and Jack Skur. Larry was known by friends and family for his spirited, warm personality and his boisterous sense of humor. His favorite pastime was fishing, which he often enjoyed doing with his friends and nephews.

Larry was a man of many professions over the years, working as a surveyor, a construction contractor, and most notably as a car salesman selling automobiles at dealerships across the Tidewater area. As a young man, he served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany guarding the Berlin Wall.

Larry is survived by his son John Skur and daughter-in-law Angela, his sisters Barbara Wayman and Jacqueline Gibbs, and his nephews Brian Lucas, Joshua Wayman, and Jeremy Wayman, who were very close to Larry and will miss him deeply. He will also be missed by his many friends who cared a great deal for him, of whom there are too many to list here. The family appreciates his friends for their camaraderie with Larry and for their support in his later years.

A memorial service is in the planning stages for the spring with details to come. Friends, family, and former colleagues are encouraged by the family to share stories of Larry on Legacy.com.

Simply Cremation is assisting Larry’s family with the arrangements.
