Laura Danise Bryant

With grave heartache, I announce the passing of my mother, Laura Danise Bryant, age 57, who joined the Lord on January 5, 2026, with her daughter, son-in-law, and niece by her side. Born on August 12, 1968, Laura was originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, and a graduate of Ben L. Smith Senior High School, class of 1987, During her teen years she enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, and enjoyed speed skating and pottery making.

Most recently she made her home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she lived with her furever companion, Stormy, her daughter, son-in-law and granddogs.

Laura will be remembered for her gentle spirit, forgiving heart, and contagious sense of humor. A firm believer in Christ, her faith was a guiding light in her life, bringing her comfort, hope, and joy.

In her lifetime, Laura found fulfillment working in education and the school system, where she took pride in supporting and nurturing others. She cherished time spent with her children, friends, family, and animals, and found peace in sitting at the beach, loved Panthers football, visiting antique stores, gardening, crafts, decorating, reading, and listening to anything by Stevie Nicks.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristin Amanda Brunner, son-in-law, Aaron Riley Brunner; her son, Joshua Clay Hughey; her treasured grandson Silas Hughey; her sister, Pamela Lay; her nieces Shannon Piner-Bridges, Kailey Bridges, Maegan Ward, Maria Lay (and her children, Adrian and Luca Wakefield, and Kira Cochiara), Isabelle Lay and her two daughters; and her nephews Kevin Piner, Tommy Lay, and his children.

Laura was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dorothy and Robert Bryant; her best friend and sister, Barbara Bryant; and her brother, Danny Bryant.

Though she is profoundly missed more than words can explain, Laura’s genuine spirit, kindness, and love live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
