Obituary For Lenore Linsalata (Lee) Cahill

Virginia Beach- Lenore Linsalata (Lee) Cahill died February 8, 2023 at her home in Virginia Beach. Born September 22, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of Nicola Linsalata and Leonarda Salerno Linsalata. She was married to Carl E. Cahill, who died in 1999, a reporter and columnist on the now defunct Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch and a free-lance writer. Lenore was a graduate of Haverford Township High School in Delaware County, PA, and received her bachelor-of-arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated with major honors. She was a reporter and worked on newspapers in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and West Virginia before coming to Tidewater Virginia where she was a reporter on the Ledger-Dispatch and resided in Norfolk, Chesapeake (Great Bridge) and Virginia Beach. After leaving the newspaper, she edited a number of publications including the Tidewater AAA newsletter and the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce magazine, “New Norfolk.” She also wrote copy for charitable organizations and political campaigns, free-lanced, and covered council meetings for the Chesapeake Post and the Virginia Beach Sun. She was a member of Virginia Beach Writers. Surviving are a son, Bret E. Cahill, of Brawley, CA; three daughters, Carla N. Cahill, of Ojai, CA, and Andria C. Atkinson(J. Parks) and Dara Cahill, of Virginia Beach; three grandsons, Dr. Dylan C. Arnold(Caylyne), of Myrtle Beach, SC; Carl D. Arnold, of Santa Monica, CA, and Nathaniel A. Andress, of Eureka Springs, AR; one granddaughter, Sarah A. Andress, of Eureka Springs, AR, two great-grandchildren, Ezra Scott Arnold and Violet Christine Arnold, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and a number of wonderful nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceding her in death were three brothers, Joseph J. Linsalata, of Wynnewood, PA, and Scottsdale, AZ; David Linsalata, of Philadelphia, PA, and Francis A. Linsalata, of Wayne, PA; and four sisters, Rose H. Linsalata and Annette M. Alfano, of Havertown, PA; Jean L. Costello, of Lancaster, PA, and Angela P. McDonnell, of Bryn Mawr, PA.
