Family and friends: I was privileged to have known Loretta as Loretta Mbah in the early 1970s. I was involved with an employment program for women. Loretta had a cosmetics business. She offered her time time and expertise to these women. My heartfelt condolences on her passing. May memories console and comfort you. Maria Teeuwen Fallin

I met Loretta later in life as a Soror in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and as a vendor. When any organization to which I belong had a convention I could count on Loretta to participate as vendor. She was a special individual and articulate as a business woman. Perdethia Lowery

To the family and friends of Loretta Kahn, I offer my condolences. Loretta was an incredible person—a giving and encouraging person who provided so much light to so many. She made a deep mark with her beloved and deeply nurtured Hampton Roads Gazeti and Exemplar Awards and will always be remembered for publicly recognizing so many who otherwise would likely have received little or no press coverage. Personally, Loretta was a good friend to me. She was also a strong supporter of the Hampton Roads Black Media Professionals, of which she was a member for many years and to which she gave so generously of her time—and even her home for one of our meetings—to inspire up-and-coming journalists. Loretta, you will be deeply, deeply missed. We love you.
