To the family and friends of Loretta Kahn, I offer my condolences. Loretta was an incredible person—a giving and encouraging person who provided so much light to so many. She made a deep mark with her beloved and deeply nurtured Hampton Roads Gazeti and Exemplar Awards and will always be remembered for publicly recognizing so many who otherwise would likely have received little or no press coverage. Personally, Loretta was a good friend to me. She was also a strong supporter of the Hampton Roads Black Media Professionals, of which she was a member for many years and to which she gave so generously of her time—and even her home for one of our meetings—to inspire up-and-coming journalists. Loretta, you will be deeply, deeply missed. We love you.
I have not seen Loretta in many years, but I often think of her. Deeply sorry to hear of her passing. She was a great communicator and assisted me on many occasions. My sympathies to her family. Love, Kay McAllister Williams
