Obituary For Lorrie Elizabeth Amerson

Chesapeake, VA - Lorrie Elizabeth Amerson passed away on October 23, 2026 after a brief but brave battle with cancer. Lorrie was born on January 28, 1960 in Key West, Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Howard Conger and Sue Audrey (Brown) Conger, her sister, Carol Ann Hackler, her nephew, Robert Glaubke, Jr. and two grandchildren, Chase Logan Gleason and Chance Landon Gleason.

Lorrie is survived by her brother, William Conger, Jr. (Zoe), sisters Amy Glaubke (Robert) and Vicki Agreste (Joe), and her cousin Lois Andrews (James). She will also be missed by her dear nieces and nephews Angelique (Dave), William III (Casey), Wendy (Ben), Katie (Jamie), Gabrielle (Brandon), Joe (Amanda), Tim (Lindsey), Becky (Howard), James (Bea), JJ (Yodani), and Shelly (Ezra) as well as her stepsons Troy Gleason and Chris Gleason (Brooke) along with her grandchildren Juno, Marissa, Christian, Sierra and Kali. Lorrie also leaves behind a host of cherished great nieces and nephews.

Lorrie worked as a network engineer with EVMS and ODU and had a strong bond with her work family (most notably, her Geek Chicks). Lorrie was smart, fun-loving and devoted to her family and friends. She would literally drop everything to ride to the rescue. She loved animals and was greatly comforted to know her dear Reba and Ninja will continue to be cared for and treasured. She loved to use her creative talents, especially to make thoughtful gifts for loved ones.

No one can talk about Lorrie without mentioning how much she loved the children in her life.

She often preferred to eat at the kids' table and always sought out ways to spend time with them in all kinds of activities to make them feel loved and supported. She was definitely the fun aunt.

Lorrie will be sorely missed, but always loved and never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Reba's Animal Rescue. www.rebasrescue.org

There will be a private celebration of life with Lorrie's family and friends.

Simply Cremation assisted her family. Online condolences may be expressed at SimplyCremationOnline.com.

I was a co-worker of Lorrie's at EVMS/ODU. I knew her for a relatively short time (3 years), but I can confidently say that she was one of the kindest and most pure of heart people I have ever known. She never had an unkind thing to say about anyone. I am privileged and blessed to have known her.
