Hampton, VA - Maria M. McGowan, aged 76, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, in Hampton, Virginia. She was born on June 10, 1950, in Salinas, Puerto Rico, to the late Elsa Maria Cerezo and Jamie Rodriguez.

Maria devoted her life to the noble profession of teaching, imparting knowledge and inspiring generations of students with her unwavering dedication and compassion. She pursued her passion for education diligently, earning an associate's degree that laid the foundation for her impactful career.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Maria was a beloved wife, mother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald C. McGowan, whose memory she cherished deeply.

Maria is survived by her loving daughter, Vanessa McGowan, who brought immense joy to her life. Vanessa will forever hold dear the lessons and love shared with her mother.

Maria's life will be celebrated in a private service at a later date. Simply Cremation is handling the arrangements. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
