Obituary For Marvin Eley, Jr.

Marvin Goode Eley, Jr, age 87, passed away on February 19, 2021 at his home in Virginia Beach, Va.

Marvin was born in 1933 in Smithfield, Va., the son of Marvin G. Eley, Sr. and Mary Holmes Smith Eley (late of Windsor, Va.) Marvin was the grandson of Richard Goode Eley and Addie Spivey Eley of Windsor, and of George Rufus Smith and Adah Wilson Smith of Smithfield.

His family moved to Windsor in 1939, and he graduated from Windsor High School in 1951. In 1954, Marvin graduated from William & Mary, VPI extension of Norfolk (now ODU.) He worked for WTAR-TV (now WTKR) as a television engineer for over 42 years, before retiring in 1996.

Marvin was predeceased by his sister Addie Holmes Eley, and his wife Norma Gay Grimes Eley. Surviving is their son, Marvin Richard Eley and his wife Leslie Wallis Eley; their daughter Elizabeth Gaye Eley, grandson Sebastion Eley Tesauro, and granddaughter Cecilia Grace Tesauro, all of Richmond Va.

His remains will be interred (at a later date) in the Eley family plot at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Smithfield, Va.
