Virginia Beach - Mary Lyn (Herbert) Cox, aged 61, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away on January 31, 2026. She was born on June 2, 1964, in Holland, Michigan.

Mary proudly served her country as a member of the United States Navy, where she developed skills and friendships that would last a lifetime. Following her service, she pursued a career in nursing and earned an Associate's Degree, dedicating herself to the care and well-being of others. Her compassionate nature and commitment to helping those in need were evident throughout her many years as a nurse with Sentara.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Max Herbert, and her beloved husband, Russell A. Cox. She is survived by her mother, Linda Herbert, and her sons, Andrew P. Cox, his partner Amanda, Randall T. Cox, and her daughter Jessica Cox, granddaughters Jamie and Chloe Cox, and Andrew and Mary’s best friend Amanda Lincoln, sister in law, Vicky Jones and her husband, Darwin Jones, brother’s in law, James R. Cox and David Cox, along with other family and friends who will miss her dearly.
