Obituary For Matthew Nathanial Riley

Matthew Nathanial Riley went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia at the age of 39.

Born on August 1, 1985, in Norfolk, Matthew spent his life in the community he loved. He was a dedicated automotive mechanic with a remarkable talent for diagnosing and repairing vehicles—a skill that not only brought him personal fulfillment but also earned him the respect and appreciation of countless colleagues and customers. He was a longtime resident of Chesapeake, Virginia, which he proudly called home.

Matthew is survived by his loving parents, Doni Lea Riley (Rusty) and Timothy John Riley; his stepmother, Marcia Lynn Riley; his grandmother, Donna Jean Masters; his uncle, Lea Masters (Ellen); his aunt, Kari Mellenkamp; and his cousin, Joshua Mellenkamp. He is also remembered fondly by his many other aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom will deeply miss his presence.

Matthew’s family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace, and they ask for continued prayers during this difficult time. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 9, 2025 at 2pm at Oman Funeral Home located at 653 Cedar Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23322.

Matthew will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, and the lasting impact he had on those around him. His passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
