Nancy Jean Jones, 54, of Newport News, Virginia, passed away on August 3, 2026. She was born on January 12, 1972, in Massachusetts to Herbert Frances Jones and Claire F. Guay.

Nancy dedicated part of her life to caring for others through her work as a Certified Nursing Assistant in private health care. Working as a CNA is a role centered around the needs of others, and through her profession, Nancy spent her time providing care and assistance to those entrusted to her.

Nancy also had a lifelong love of horses. For 12 years, she was a member of the 4-H Horse Riding Club, where she competed in 4-H Horse Show competitions and proudly made it all the way to the State Championships. Her beloved horse, Magic, was a special part of those years and the memories she made along the way.

Nancy is survived by her son, Eric Dow.

Nancy’s life was more than the dates that marked its beginning and end. It was made up of the people she encountered, the relationships she formed, the work she performed, and countless moments known best by those who shared them with her.

Her passing at only 54 leaves behind memories that cannot be measured simply in years. Those who knew Nancy will carry their own pieces of her story—the conversations, moments, and experiences that made her a part of their lives.

May those who knew and cared for Nancy find comfort in those memories and in knowing that the life she lived and the people she touched will not be forgotten.
