Patricia Ann Barrows, 80 years old, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023, surrounded by family after a bravely fought battle with cancer.

Patricia, “Pat” or “Patty Ann” was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a dear friend to many. Born in Paterson, NJ, she grew up in Hawthorne, NJ and graduated from Hawthorne High School, where she was a majorette and gymnast. She later moved to Springville, PA, where she lived until 2002, when she and the love of her life, Paul, retired and moved to their new home they built in the West Neck community of Virginia Beach, VA. She and Paul were married a year later in 2003, and recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on November 19, 2023.

Patricia worked at Procter & Gamble as a Tech 3 Technician manufacturing diapers for 17 years until retiring in 2002, but her favorite job was being a Typesetter with Montrose Publishing, where she typed for the local newspaper for nearly 10 years.

In her early years, one of her favorite past times was bowling and traveling with her bowling friends to St. Louis, MO, Niagara Falls, and Hartford, CT, but later in life she cherished the times spent with “her Paul” and her family.

She and Paul enjoyed going to the beach, walking on the boardwalk, gardening, celebrating holidays with family and friends, dog sitting her grand pups, and watching the boats at Rudee Inlet. She also enjoyed traveling and cruising with her friends, and traveling to Colorado to visit her cousin Ed and his family. What brought her the most joy was being a Nanny to her three grandchildren. She was grateful to have been a part of their lives for so many years. She and Paul went to countless soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and softball games, and attended several dance recitals over the years. Nanny was also extremely proud to see all three graduate from college and of all their other many accomplishments.

Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Sebastian and Martha Driesse. Left to cherish Patricia’s memory are her devoted husband, Paul Barrows, two children, Timothy Nuss (wife Doreen), Susan Shoop (husband Kenny), three grandchildren, Cory Shoop (wife Katie), Ashley Shoop, and Shauna Nuss, her great grandson, Caden Shoop, and her cousin, Edwin Ullmer (Noreen).

The family will be scheduling a celebration of life for all of her family and friends in the near future.
